I'm sure this will need some refactoring but here goes...

• Model your application state using standard JavaBeans (e.g. have your beans fire PropertyChangeEvents in the setter methods.)
• Use the (implement) function to handle UI/Swing events
• Fire all your rules from a single dedicated thread
